The purpose of this is to investigate the effectiveness of a cognitive-oriented programme designed to achieve some objectives of teaching English at the pre-schoole level. To achieve this purpose, the researcher made a comprehensive review of relevant literature and a survey of the actual situation at the pre-school level to arrive at criteria for determining suitable objectives and appro-priate linguistic skills of teaching English to children. In the light of the finding of this survey, two questionnaires were desiqned. The first one was about the objectives, and the second was about the linguistic skills. After validating the two questionnires, asample of some pre-school English teachers (N = 54) responded yo the questionnires. Having analyzed their responses statistical ly, some objectives as ”very important”by the sample. For the sake of the questionnaires reliability, they were submitted to the same sample of teachers. |
