The neo_classicism of the eighteenth country did not exist in a cultural vacuum. It derived its inspiration from traditional beliefs that had domnited literature for thousand years. Rene Welleks states that:neo-classicism is fusion of Aristotle and Horace,a restatement of thrir principles and views which underwent only comparatively minor changes during almost three centuries.Basiclly, the eighteenth century was known as the age of enlightenment which was characterized by its rational spirit. Donald Greene axplains ”tha terms enlightenment efers to the continent, espciallyin the intellectual climate of the continent,especially in the middle and late eighteen centyry”.(2) order ,logic,correttness,good sense, and restrained emotion were the essential chatacteristics of that period.
