Trichloroethylene (TCE) is extensively used as an industrial organic solvent for metal degreasing dry cleaning and food extraction and as an ingredient thinner for paints and varnishes adhesive , household cleaning fluids , printing ink (kumar et al , 2001) Its has also been widely used as an anesthetic agent (lipscomb et al , 1997)TCE is released into all media but mostly into the air due to its volatility . Its also soluble in water and can leach into water and food ( wue &schaum ) therefore exposure to TCE can occur from contamination of air , water and food |
