The postmenopausal NIDDM are a group of patients who need a special care because they are liable to many risk factors which affect them and led to many complications. So in this work, a group of risk factors like age, duration of diabetes, duration of menopause, blood pressure, WHR, BMI, fasting and postprandial serum blood glucose level, fasting and postprandial semi: triglyceride level, fasting and postprandial serum cholesterol level, fasting and postprandial serum HDL !evel, fasting and postprandial serum LDL level, serum leptin-a level,lasma endothelin-1 level and serum uric acid level were chosen to study their effects on postmenopausal women with NIDDM.So we randomly selected 443 postmenopausal NIDDM women and from them 2 groups of 40 cases obese and 40 cases non obese were selected, in each group there were 3 subgroups : Diabetics only (10 cases), diabetics with hypertension (15 cases) and diabetics with IHD (15 cases). And also 10 obese and 10 non obese postmenopausal volunteers women were chosen as control group, then all members were subjected to the following investigation after taking their consents :1-Complete history and full clinical examination.2-Plain x-ray chest and heart.3-Resting ECG and exercise ECG.4-Abdominal ultrasonography.5-Fundus examination.The following investigations were done : stool & urine analysis, full blood pictures, fasting and postprandial blood glucose level, liver |
