There sreninedifferent surgical methods for treatment of chronic nasal obstruction;The injection of,sclerosine agents, Submucosal injection,of long-acting steroids, Surface caut,erization, Gr,yosurgery,Laser surgery, Out fracrure, Surgical excision, VidilUlneurec_tomy, Submucos9.1 diathermy.In this stUdy submucous diathermy has been used fer treamentof 30 patients suffering from chronic nasal obstructionby hypertrophied turbinace. Complete reliE!f occured in 24 cases(so: %), partial relief in 4 cases (13.3%) and 2 cl:.seslierestill compl!;lintof the obstruction •We found that it is e. simple procedure that can bu perfornedunder both local ar.d general anaesthesia. When pel’formedunder local ana.esthesia, there was little discomfort durLng ,the operation.Silasti0 sheets used were effective if avoiding adhesionsand treating them., ---------- -- -- - ------ .._- --81-Ftediathenny can be done in patients who developed part __ia1 re’lief or unchanged complaint as a result of the firstsetting of diathermy.fhese obtained rellu1ts may be related to perfect patientselection and precise technique.Submucosal diathermy is not the complete answer to thestuffy nose, rhinorrhea, or post nasal drip, but it offersanother simple, easy and inexpensive method to deal with.
