It suits the patients of tropicalelephantiasis with diseased local skin.Thompson’s operation indicated in mild and moderate degrees oflymphoedema when the skin overlying is in a good condition.Micro-lymphatic surgery is preferred in cases of congenital BandSyndrome and secondary traumatic lymphoedema of extremities.Thompson’s operation and micro-lymphatic surgery are purely physiologicaloperations. The result expected are improvement andnot cure the limb must not be expected to be as good as a normalone. it is concluded that on the basis of our study that weconsider Charle’s operation to be the operation of choice inpatients with extensive lymphoedema of the limbs associated withskin changes. The Thompson’s procedure is a successfull operationfor the treatment of moderate types of lymphoedema of the extermities. The micro-lymphatic surgery is indicated for congenitalBand syndrome and secondary traumatic lymphoedema. the results areunsatisfactory and need further trials. |
