■Flexible flat foot is a benign condition that improves spontaneously during the first years of life.■The talus-sole angle is the recommended angle on the lateral weight bearing radiographs to evaluate and follow up these cases.■A minority of cases are severe enough to be treated early with UCBL insert to improve the deformity and function and also to decrease parent’s reasonable anxiety and minimize excessive shoewear.■Parents compliance and child’s regular usage of the UCBL insert are essential for successful results.■UCBL insert is preferred to other shoe inserts, wedging and modifications for its effectiveness.■Clinically the symptoms usually improve more significantly than radiological improvement.■Rarely surgery may be needed to correct the severe symptomatic deformity which do not respond to conservative treatment.■Arthodesis is better to be avoided and calcaneal lengthening osteotomy usually gives good results. |
