The present study investigated the effectiveness of asuggested computer-based program for developing some EFL oralcommunication skills appropriate for a group of first year preparatoryschool students (n = 39). A list of oral communication skills ( the listeningcomprehension skills and the speaking skills)was identified. An oralcommunication test ( the listening comprehension and the speaking) and asuggested computer-based program of eight lessons were designed. Theprogram was applied in the second semester of the academicyear(2008/2009) and lasted for sixteen sessions for about one month and ahalf. The post-test was applied on the study sample and the findings wererevealed. The findings indicated that the suggested program is effective indeveloping these oral communication skills. The study concluded thatusing computer-based programs is very helpful and effective in learningEFL oral communication skills and that these programs are more effectivethan the traditional teaching method.
