No doubt thai; over population problem is one of thegreatest problems allover the world. In this investigationwe have s tiudc.ed the acceptability of different birthcontrol methods in Dakahlia governorate which is consideredthe 2nd gove”norate according to it’s population,it is Locaced on E:ither side of Damiatta branch of thenile, it consists of II cities and 433 villages.On reviowing the -:ifferent birth control methods wefind that the mos’ effective one is not the safest andthe safest is not 10~/oeffective.On questioneC1.ring womenin the family planningcentres. Wefind that:(1) The pills is the most acceptable method because hasnothins to do Nith sexual relations and it’s efficacy is(2) The loop is the 2pd choce, because it cause vaginalbleeding, and its efficacy is not 100% as pill.(3) The condom comes after the pill and the loop, it I smain aJ.vo.u~as’~s, 2.re, hygienic, cheap and easy to use.However it interfere with sexual pleasure Dutch cap is not acceptable because it needs experiencedwomen conserning its application more over it hasa high failure rate.(5) We find considerable number of women prolong theirlaclation as a birth control method, also some womeninsert piece of sugar or piece of salt in the vaginabefore coitus.(6) Most women are still confused about sterilizationWOillenover 35 years esrecially which have five childrenor .aore accept any matihod of contraception, if pregnancyoccur they go to c~ort theillSelvesin the dark.(7) Birth control me’,~nodsare used and more acceptablein urban than in rural areas, this difference is due todiscripancy in edLcational status, mal-housing ••• etc.To solve this problem we must put the followingpoints in the mind:(1) The problem indeed is a volumenous one.(2) Education will shcrten Ghe way.(3) We must start by rural areas.(~) Every method must be available especialy in ruralareas.(5)Every couple must know every thing about contraceptionand its side effecTs, also know the complication- 88 -of repeated pregnancy and labour.(6) The religious acceptance should be clear and cleancut.(7) Medical survice must be at a higher level andshould be provided by specialist.(8) The physician must choice the proper time tocouncil a women E~out the method of contraception.
